Services Provided

Many people in the community have difficulty listening, understanding or speaking.  Speech Pathologists also work with people who have difficulty eating and/or drinking. Talk It Up's current caseload includes:

- Delayed and disordered speech development
- Delayed and disordered language development
- Early pre-reading  and pre-spelling skills (phonological awareness)
- Stuttering
- Voice disorders
- Swallowing disorders
- Education and training sessions
- Communication and swallowing following neurological events (i.e. stroke, head injury)

Assessment
The assessment process involves:
- Gathering background information (e.g. developmental & medical histories, hearing status). A background information form is sent prior to the assessment to save time in the initial session.
- Assessing communication/swallowing skills using standardised tools and/or non-standardised  clinical observations.
- Assessment usually takes one to two hours/visits.

Reports are written on request and charged at a set rate.

ADOS Clinic
We run a monthly clinic whereby we complete the ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule - Second Edition) to assist in the diagnosis of autism. Clinicians in this clinic have been trained specifically in this assessment tool.

NDIS Update
We are a registered NDIS Provider for participants aged over 9 years. We are able to service participants aged under 9 years if they are self managed or plan managed.
For people who would like to access the NDIS, contact 1800 800 110.

Therapy
How much therapy and how often it is needed varies with every person. The options available are discussed with you and you can decide the therapy goals (what you want to achieve) and the frequency of sessions.

Acknowledgement of Country

We respectfully acknowledge the Dja Dja Wurrung people, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we meet, work, and learn in Bendigo. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present, and emerging, and extend that respect to all First Nations Peoples.

We recognise that Country is not just a place, but a living cultural and storytelling landscape—nurtured over millennia through spoken word, song, and story. As a speech pathology practice committed to supporting communication and storytelling for all, we are mindful and grateful to honour the oldest storytellers of this land, and to continue learning from their enduring connection to place, language, and expression.
